Esme has now been sold

A rare and much admired historic Luxemotor Esme is a classic Dutch Luxemotor 'Motorvrachtschip' built in 1927 at Makkum in the Netherlands by the famous Amels shipyard. Amels is one of the few Dutch shipyards from that era still working in Makkum and now building steel superyachts for the rich and famous.

After a working life of over sixty years, the ship was converted in the late 1980s by Walter Stamm-Teske, a Zurich born and renowned architect, now Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany. He engaged a team of expert Dutch shipbuilders to help him fulfill his dream of creating a comfortable family home in a beautiful ship which could travel the waterways of Europe.

His use of space and contemporary style in the conversion reflects his architectural skills whilst retaining the original ship's lines and the historic character of the aft cabin and wheelhouse. The result is Esme, the perfect size for full or part time living and cruising with ample entertaining space and comfortable accommodation for six.
