The Wheelhouse

The original wheelhouse was a small steering hut. This has been replaced during the conversion with a large teak double glazed wheelhouse further forward.

The roof is large and fixed so will restrict a few potential waterways but has the advantage of being double glazed and draughtproof. Because of its size and weight, dismantling it would probably be too difficult for the two of us. There are double doors aft which allow immediate access to the aft sundeck and bitts (bollards). Because there are no side doors, the width is maximised allowing generous side decks.

Ultimately if there were no other jobs to do, Chris has a design for a collapsing version which would lay on the foredeck but it would be very complex and expensive to modify.
